Data Taxonomist

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Electric Capital's existing taxonomy for classifying and categorizing various crypto projects, protocols, technologies, and concepts.
• Continuously monitor and research the crypto ecosystem to identify new trends, verticals, or emerging technologies that should be incorporated into our taxonomy.
• Collaborate with our analysts, researchers, and data engineers to ensure that our taxonomy accurately captures the nuances and complexities of the crypto space.
• Develop and document clear guidelines, rules, and best practices for applying and maintaining the taxonomy consistently across our data sources and analysis.
• Work closely with our labeling, analyst and engineering teams to ensure accurate application of the taxonomy and provide guidance on edge cases or ambiguities.
• Identify and address inconsistencies, redundancies, or gaps within the existing taxonomy, and propose solutions for improvement.
• Conduct regular audits and quality checks to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the taxonomy.
• Provide training, support and education material to labeling teams.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in taxonomy and/or ontology development, management, or a related role, preferably within a complex or rapidly evolving domain.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of taxonomy design principles, information architecture, and knowledge organization systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound judgments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining data quality and consistency.
• Passion for staying up-to-date with emerging trends and developments in the crypto space.
• Familiarity with data labeling, data entry, and knowledge management processes.
