The team

Our global Compliance team is redefining how compliance should be done - we challenge the norms and practices of the incumbent industry participants to identify ways to make Compliance at Kraken a competitive advantage. Our teams navigate the regulatory uncertainty and changing policy positions of global regulators and governments to help chart a path that ensures Kraken is successful in a truly dynamic industry.

The Product Compliance team is part of Compliance and is Kraken Compliance’s primary interface with key partners external to the Compliance function (incl. Product, Strategy, Corp Dev). It supports Kraken’s portfolio of long term product initiatives, including support for internal tools & systems. Payment & Blockchain is a vertical of Product Compliance, alongside Growth, Consumer, On Chain, Institutional, PRO, and Platform.

The Payments & Blockchain is responsible for ensuring the seamless and secure operation of our platform's financial infrastructure. This includes overseeing payment processing, blockchain operations, and related back-office functions. The team is committed to optimizing our existing systems and exploring innovative solutions to drive efficiency and scalability.

The opportunity

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize processes and resolve issues.

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for external functions on Compliance-related matters to support our platform's financial infrastructure.

  • Prepare detailed relevant documentation and provide recommendations in alignment to Compliance’s requirements and risk appetite.

  • Keep up with regulatory landscape and industry movements to advise on backoffice controls related to funds and transfer processing.

  • As the team grows, lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Skills you should HODL

  • 4–7 years proven experience in payments, blockchain, or financial services industry.

  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and between multiple teams.

  • Excellent analytical/problem solving, verbal and written communication, and organization skills

  • Strong understanding of blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and smart contracts, as well as payment processing systems and regulations.

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with risk management and compliance frameworks.

Nice to haves

  • Experience with DevOps practices.

  • Knowledge of data analytics and business intelligence tools.

  • Experience with regulatory reporting and compliance.

  • Certification in relevant areas
