Our team oversees the design, management, and administration of benefits across the U.S. and Canada—including health and wellness, 401(k) (U.S. only), time off, and leaves of absence—while providing thoughtful support to Krakenites navigating time away from work, insurance, and benefit-related needs.
This role is open to candidates in the United States and Canada that meet the requirements of the role as outlined below.
The opportunity
Leave & Time Off Management: partner with the leave administrator in US & Canada to ensure leaves are administered in alignment with our policies, pay is processed correctly in US & Canada, and answer employee questions
Benefits Administration: lead day-to-day benefit tasks in US & Canada including tracking enrollments & terminations, resolve system & file errors, act as the liaison with benefit vendors and brokers
Open Enrollment (US Only): support set up of open enrollment project plan, system configuration and communications
Communications: assist with creating and tracking communication deliverables including presentations, flyers, Slack posts, and internal benefit site
Billing: audit monthly invoices to ensure accuracy, reconcile vendor credits, and audit contributions for FSA, HSA and 401(k)
Payroll Support: validate payroll deductions and leave pay each pay period
Compliance: ensure compliance with federal, state, and provincial requirements by updating plan documents, administering ACA reporting, distributing required plan notices, coordinating non-discrimination and 401(k) plan testing, and supporting audits and filings
Process Improvement: help identify areas where processes can be automated or improved to reduce manual effort
Monitor US & Canada Workers’ Compensation program
Develop and maintain good working relationships with global benefits team & other internal stakeholders
Provide education & support to HR Partners with regards to the benefit programs and practices
Participate in due diligence during the mergers and acquisitions process as required
Participate in benefits related projects or broader HR projects as a stakeholder
Skills you should HODL
10+ years of benefits experience, preferably in a similar role at a high tech, multinational company
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, attention to details and high degree of accuracy
Experience administering leaves in the US & Canada
Highly organized, operationally astute and data-oriented
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment
Willingness to embrace change, self-motivated and proactive learner
Exceptional customer service, written and verbal communication skills
Experience with an HRIS (Workday) and benefits enrollment portals (ADP Workforce Now) and UKG
Excellent computer skills – proficient in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and departments on multiple projects
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in HR
Empathetic, emotionally intelligent, motivated and passionate
